On May 17, 2019, the International Conference “Nature and Mission of the University in the Modern World” took place at the Catholic University of John Paul II in Lublin. It was attended by representatives of the National University “Ostroh Academy” – Vice-Rector for Research and Teaching Prof. Dmytro Shevchuk and the Dean of the Faculty of Political and Information Management Assoc. Prof. Vitalii Lebediuk. The conference was devoted to the rather topical issue of the modern university and brought together scientists from Ukraine, Poland, the United States, Switzerland, Hungary and Italy. Important issues of academic life were considered: the crisis of the university and ways to overcome it, the role of humanities and philosophy for modern society, the mission of the university in the face of global challenges, ways of functioning of universities in a market economy.
